Sir Frank Brangwyn

1867-1956
British (Belgian-born)
Biography:

Elected a senior member of the Royal Academy, Sir Frank Brangwyn was a prolific artist but also a printmaker, draftsman, interior designer, ceramicist, stained glass artist, and seemingly dabbled in every other artistic medium one might pursue in his day. He worked under William Morris, circa 1882-4. During the 1890s, the artist traveled throughout Europe, Near East, and South Africa.

Brangwyn was strongly influenced by the art nouveau movement and had a colourful and bold decorative style. His unique artistic abilities were recognized with a knighthood in 1941, and in 1952 he was the first living academician to have a full retrospective at the Royal Academy.
