The Danish painter, Carl Frederic Aagaard was known for his vivid, pastoral landscapes of the European countryside. Although born in a small town, he moved to Copenhagen to study at the Danish Royal Academy. Traveling and exhibiting throughout Italy and Switzerland, Aagaard represented the flourishing of Denmark’s cultural revitalization in the middle of the nineteenth century.
