Biography

Fran├žois Maury was a prolific painter whose subjects were broad reaching including figure, genre, landscape and still life. He particularly excelled at landscapes and it is in this genre that we see his debt to the Barbizon School. Maury's naturalism, mood, and application of paint are all inspired by the Barbizon movement.
