Biography:

Sir Jacob Epstein, American by birth but became a British citizen in 1911, was a painter and sculptor. He ushered in the modern age of sculpture through avant-garde subject matter, concepts and style. Henry Moore and Barbara Hepworth cited him as a major influence on their work.

Epstein studied at the Art Student League,1900 and moved to Europe in 1902, where he studied in Paris at the Julian and the École des Beaux-Arts.
