Michael Graves

b. 1952
American
Biography:

Michael Graves is a widely exhibited and nationally recognized plein-air painter based in Massachusetts. Graves studied under and ultimately painted alongside Bernard Corey for the better part of two decades. While the two have different styles, Graves tending more toward bold colors and jagged brush strokes, and Corey more refined, it is clear that the student matured under the quiet leadership of Corey.

Despite traveling to paint in Europe and Asia, Graves prefers to depict his home landscape of New England whether it be farm, city or mountain scenes.

Graves has exhibited at the storied Salmagundi Club, Academic Artists Association, and the Old Lyme Art Association where he is also a member. He has received awards too numerous to list each year from 1985 to present.
